The London Festival of Architecture 2008 is a celebration and exploration of the city's buildings, streets and spaces, aimed at Londoners and visitors alike. The Festival runs from 20 June – 20 July and includes street installations, exhibitions, guided walks, cycle rides, boat tours of the city's river and canals, parties, design workshops, debates, breakfast talks, and weekend street markets.
Over twenty-five international embassies are exhibiting architecture from their particular countries, and a dozen temporary installations will occupy streets across the city as part of the National Architecture Student Festival. The Festival involves the work of many hundreds of professionals and volunteers, and aims to provide thought-provoking new perspectives on London. Many events are free and open to all, including ours.
Visit the LFA2008 Headquarters between 20 June and 20 July to collect information and advice about Festival events, and contribute to our interactive exhibition. LFA HQ will be hosted by New London Architecture at the Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT.
From cardboard kittens to hotdog hambags, creativity meets kitsch in the wonderful world of Garudio Studiage, a Peckham-based design collective whose unique appeal comes from mixing design and art with fashion, fun and lashings of this, that and the other.
Their current exhibition at London’s dreamspace gallery presents never seen before projects reflecting the eclectic mix that is London’s creative scene. Garudio Studiage have transformed four blank walls into an undiscovered hideaway in London where you can take a seat at the bar of the Three Legged Fox and admire portraits of popular culture made from the kitschest of vinyl classics. If you want to feel more at home with a bit of London grime, then Chris Ratcliffe’s screen prints made from dust should do just the trick.
To keep you entertained, it all goes a bit ‘Crufts’ with their Dogs of London illustrations and you’ll find domestic objects printed on to domestic objects with an interactive fridge installation. Come along and get involved. You can buy a fridge magnet for a fiver, as long as you make your mark and in its place leave a little bit of information about yourself.
The exhibition will open on 28 April and run until 5 June 2008
Our current exhibition, The Three Legged Fox and Other Stories, presents a quirky mix of graphic design, print, illustration and 3d design. From fridge magnets to wallpaper and screen prints made of dust, you can purchase their work until 5th June 2008. If you are a lover of all things furry, you'll love Anna Walsh's 'Dogs of London' series that looks at what the type of dog you choose says about your social status and the area you live in. Some pieces are unique, some limited editions. All are fantastic pieces for design enthusiasts and collectors alike. Adrem will be donating all of the commission taken from sales during this exhibition to the victims of the cyclone in Burma. For information on individual pieces and a price list, contact Chloe at chloeb@adrem.uk.com.
