The industrial design engineer must have a track record of managing large scale projects from concept to delivery, with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes. You must know how things are made and have a minimum of three years industry experience. They are now wishing to add a further role to their rapidly growing team at their dedicated innovation and development facility. We are seeking an experienced and passionate I.D. Designer to assist in their New Product Development (NPD) team in the creation of exciting new product, packaging and visual merchandising propositions. This is an in-house role working between their Cambridge and London offices with regular UK and international travel. You will be involved in concept generation, prototyping and assisting in the transfer of concept data to manufacturing. This exciting new role covers the end to end process working alongside the Design and Technical teams in early creation of ‘concept’ ideas, to help generate initial prototypes for evaluation with supporting visuals/animations. You should be passionate about design, with a sound knowledge of 2D CAD packages - in particular Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator/ CorelDraw. Knowledge of 3D CAD is an advantage particularly ProEngineer or Solidworks as is experience in creating high quality visualisation or managing external suppliers to create visual models. The role requires an understanding of transferring products into manufacture in China and Europe. You'll be expected to support multiple projects on a day-to-day basis and must be able to demonstrate experience in all the core service design skills: conducting and synthesising research, journey mapping, service ideation, concept communication and specification. You'll be a designer with a minimum of 3 years of agency experience with a background in UX, industrial design, communications or innovation. You'll have at least 1 year of experience in service design working on projects for global, commercial-sector clients. SKILLS. You should be able to support all aspects of the service design process; helping to plan, prepare for and synthesise research and co-creations sessions, construct and populate customer journey maps of current and ideal experiences, you should have strong visual communication skills (digital and sketching) and also be able to help prototype and bring concepts to life.
